About the event

Starting from the floor, we will work with and against gravity, developing fluidity of movement, tapping into our natural grace and channeling our inner creative impulses. All of the sequence exercises are based on Release Technique. From there, we come off the floor and work on developing power and energy in the pelvis and core. There will be a specific focus on finding freedom around the hip and hip joints. The exercises combine improvisation and sequences, using rounded movements with a sense of flow and gravity, much inspired by Gaga (Ohad Naharin).

Continuing on to legs, the use of ballet techniques will gain us a better understanding of our bodies alignments and strengths. Balance will be found in expanding multi-directionality rather than by holding. Focusing next on the back and spine, we will lengthen from the top and bottom by blending exercise with visualization. In addition to the rounded, fluid bodywork we will learn to articulate our joints and limbs, expanding their expression and their use of space.

By joining the class, you will develop a better awareness of your own body, the weight of your body parts, your own style of movement and identity. It is a wholly creative process, where each individual can find something unique for them.
